Hull City need more supporters and fewer consumers

Once again, there were rows upon rows of mute people sat in the Hull City end at Bramall Lane yesterday. Who are these silent folk and what is their motivation for coming to games?

We have far too many passive consumers at Hull City – buying the tickets and the merchandise but giving nothing else – and that’s diluting the proportion of supporters.

The idea of noisy fans being a twelfth man is probably over-rated, but equally it must have some sort of positive effect on the players, however small.

So anyone who doesn’t leave the ground hoarse from supporting the team hasn’t put in a shift, to use the vogue phrase.

If you want to watch a football game in silence, why not stay at home and watch it on the internet? You can even turn the sound down if you like.

Well editor, as a Stoke City fan, I can’t begin to tell you the effect a good vocal set of supporters has on the team – opposition players have said it puts them off too so it can only be a good thing? The loudest in the league and it shows, it really CAN be the 12th man..

I see Hull don’t really have a song – apart from that one about half a dozen clubs sing – maybe this is something you could look into?

I guess if you go down, some of these fairweather supporters will go and support someone else and free up some space for some more hardcore fans who perhaps aren’t able to get tickets this season?

Maybe if you didn’t have a perma tanned mentalist and an overly opinionated chairman at the helm you might have more to cheer about….

    Enjoy the Championship anyway!

Hmm, I think you’ll find we sing stuff that we make up ourselves, that’s relevant to the club, not some karaoke cack.

“No silverware? We don’t care. We’ll follow Hull City everywhere.”

    Says it all.

    “Why why why Delilah?”

Says nothing except Stoke people are stuck in some musical timewarp.

Club song? What next – cheerleaders? Music after goals? Foam hands?
